Kate Shanasy
Spirited, evocative, effervescent. Kate Shanasy is an Australian freelance photographer who works seasonally between her home in Blairgowrie, Melbourne, and Paris, France. She’s an intuitive creative who rippled through the mediums of writing and videography before finding herself most enamoured with photography. Her work is driven by a zest for adventure and a thirst for life. The result is crisp, candid and romantic photography that richly captures a moment or the brief — be it for local businesses, global brands or some tickled-pink newlyweds. Known for her ‘slightly undone’ curation, Kate’s style is disarming and percolates a sense of effortlessness and ease. She creates her most honest work when fully immersed in the environment; senses heightened, viscerally receptive and attuned to the current of the action. Her watermark is to naturally capture the unexpected; a kind of enchanting realism; a surprising delight. At full sail, Kate cooks, films, shoots, edits, (and tastes) the recipe reels in her home studio for the likes of Broadsheet and Kitchen Aid Australia. Kate is a longtime anchor contributor with Broadsheet and her work has appeared on The Design Files, QANTAS Travel Insider, Intrepid, Harper’s Bazaar, Gourmet Traveller and the front covers of Houses Magazine and Domain Review. Kate works closely with the National Gallery of Victoria. She is globally represented by LA-based gallery, House of Spoils, and locally by Coastal Living on the Mornington Peninsula. Visit her online shop and find her latest print series, Lemon Delight, flush with the sorbetto hues of the Italian coastline. Reach out to her with a brief via Instagram or email. Even better, talk to her about your most blue-sky creative ideas.
