To me a cowboy isn't about the boots or the hat you're wearing. It's a lifestyle and a mindset that requires a lot of discipline and determination. It's about holding yourself to a certain standard mentally and physically. It's about patience and humility. Always putting the well being of livestock and the land before yourself to maintain a healthy balance for our ecosystem and future generation. I captured this photo to represent the hard work that goes into this lifestyle. From blistering summer heat to below freezing temperatures, there's always work that has to get done. While taking a break one afternoon, I was caught off guard when a friend of mine was posted up on a fence post as the snow came down all around us on a ranch just outside of Yellowstone. The details in silver spurs against the cracked leather chaps, created a moment that to me represents all of the elements that make up a cowboy. This is as real as it gets.
